Some people just breeze through their theory tests, but for the rest of us, that just isn’t the case. And with the high price of doing your theory test and the frustration of not being able to pass it, having to sit it more than once can be a little upsetting.

I know that theory tests can be tricky, especially if you are really nervous. That’s why I thought I would share some helpful tips for how to pass your theory test the first time around.
1. Book your test
The first step in preparing properly for your driving theory test is to book your test at www.booktheorytesttoday.com. Before choosing a date, consider how long you will need to prepare for it - don’t rush yourself, choose a date that you are comfortable with.Once you have chosen the date for your test, the next step is to pick a time. While you might be tempted to book it for early in the morning to get it out the way, it is important to take rush hour traffic into account.
While you might want to get your test out of the way, you don’t want to end up missing it because of crazy rush hour traffic. It’s probably best to pick a slightly later time, like 10 or 11am so that you can avoid the mad morning traffic.
2. Do lots of revision
Don’t leave your theory test revision until the last minute, as this will only leave you feeling panicked and stressed out. From the date, you book your theory test, to the day of the test itself, spend half an hour to an hour a day, brushing up on your driving theory.Ask a friend or family member to help you with your theory test revision. Ask them to test you on road signs, stopping distance and the highway code.
3. Practice on the go
An excellent way to incorporate theory revision into your everyday life is by testing yourself whenever you see a road sign. Ask yourself what the sign means, and then check the answer in your theory practice book.Another way to practice for your theory test while on the go is with the numerous driving theory test apps. There are all sorts of theory test apps available, from road sign quizzes to hazard perception mocks - these are a great way to brush up on your revision.
4. Take a mock test
A week before your theory test, start using the internet and smartphone apps to take mock tests. These will give you an idea of how much knowledge you have and how likely you are to pass the actual test.Plus, by doing mock tests, you can work out the areas that you need to do more revision of, before your test day.
5. Stay calm
On the day of your theory test, it is important to stay calm. If you have put in the time and done your revision, then you have nothing to worry about.
Once you arrive at the test centre, take your time to read through the instructions and get to know how the equipment works.
Stay calm, focus and take your time with your test, and you should be just fine. Good luck!
