This week's how to is focused on getting flawless skin, by using natural ingredients to help remove blackheads. The guide from Dirty Looks provides a natural alternative to harsh products that can dry out your skin. It's so simple I don't know why I've never heard of it before.

BEAUTY | How To Make A Banana And Almond Oil Face Mask

This week I'm looking at yet another face mask recipe, this time a delicious 'How To Make Banana and Almond Oil Face Mask' guide, from Dirty Looks. This simple, two ingredient mask will give your skin a healthy glow ready for the summer. Bananas act as an all-natural moisturiser that can help improve your complexion and almond oil acts as an antioxidant pore cleanse - not to mention it apparently makes a fantastic make up remover!

BEAUTY | How To Make a Hydrating Mask - Contains Peanuts

This week we make a return to skin care, with this  ''How To Make a Hydrating Mask' guide, from Dirty Looks. Obviously as this recipe contains Peanuts, it is not suitable for anyone with a nut allergy.

This post really should have been posted earlier in the winter, as we could quite possibly be getting our swimming costumes out this weekend if news reports are anything to go by. Even if we don't get that much heat, in Brighton at least we are guaranteed to get a lot of hopeful men in shorts!

I've noticed the last month or so, that this cold weather has really taken a toll on my skin. Generally I have quite good and young looking skin, and while it's not flaky it definitely is looking dry and it dehydrated, making me look tired and, heaven forbid OLD!

If you missed any of my other 'How to' articles, or want to revisit one, you can find them all on the How To Label.

HAIR | How To Make Your Own Conditioner

This week we make a return to hair care, with this  ''How to make your own conditioner' guide, from Dirty Looks. I find that I always go through conditioner twice as fast as Shampoo, and often get caught short! Also as I am sensitive to some of the chemicals in hair products, I know that this isn't going to give me an itchy, flaky scalp.

I also find that this time of year my hair is particularly susceptible to becoming brittle, because of the weather.

FOOD | How To Make a Coconut and Peach Smoothie

This week we make a return to healthy smoothie making, with this  ''How to make a Coconut and Peach smoothie' guide, from Dirty Looks. This awful weather has got us all sniffly, wheezy and ill, and this smoothie is the perfect concoction to help boost your immune system. The coconut also helps flush the toxins out of your body.

Another way to stave of your cold is to make sure you have loads of vitamin C and echinacea, which are both very beneficial to your immune system.

BEAUTY | How To Make A Delicious Chocolate Face Mask

This weeks 'How To..' guide, from Dirty Looks, shows us how to make a chocolate face mask. Let's face it I would probably end up eating this while making it, but if I can resist the temptation long enough to apply it to my face I could see some great benefits!

This recipe can help give your skin a healthy glow and really replenish and hydrate your skin, something my face is crying out for at the moment - noticed the other day my skin, especially my forehead looked drier and tighter up close, so with a bit of luck I can give this a go before my valentines date with Hubs tonight.

HAIR | How To Make Dry Shampoo That Will Not Turn Your Hair White!

This weeks 'How To..' guide, from Dirty Looks, shows us how to make the life essential that is Dry Shampoo. Although if you have dark hair like me, this can often be a nightmare! Well, no matter if your hair is dark or light we have a recipe for you!

The good thing about this recipe is the addition of the essential oil, as I find that Dry Shampoo really dries out my hair. Both recipes are so easy to make and can be premade and kept in a mason jar ready for when you have slept through your alarm on a Monday morning and missed the chance to give it a wash!

HAIR | How To Make a Homemade Frizz Remedy

This weeks 'How To..' guide, from Dirty Looks, shows us how to make a homemade frizz remedy - which I might add I am in dyer need of! My hair is very frizz prone, it is neither naturally straight or curly, it's not even nicely wavy, just more of a frizz bomb. I can't believe how simple this is to make, I will be testing this over the weekend as I'd like to go heat free for a while, and currently it is not possible with my frizz out of control!

BEAUTY | How To Make a Vanilla Oil Body Scrub

vanilla oil body scrub
This weeks 'How To..' guide, from Dirty Looks, teaches us how to make a Vanilla Oil Body Scrub. I actually LOVE scrubs, so to see how easy they are to make is great! This time of year, our skin takes a beating from the regular shift in temperature from going outside and coming in, not to mention work air con systems.

Drinking water can really help with keeping the skin hydrated and looking great, but a good exfoliant helps promote new skin growth, brightens up new skin and helps rid the skin or whiteheads, blackheads and ingrown hairs.

HAIR | How To Make an Avocado and Peppermint Tea Hair Mask

Homemade Avacado and Peppermint Tea Hair Mask
Homemade Avocado and Peppermint Tea Hair Mask
This weeks 'How To..' guide, from Dirty Looks,  focuses on homemade hair treats! I love the idea of making my own haircare products as my scalp and hair are very sensitive to parabens and sulphates that are both often found in shampoo and conditioner.

I continue to be on my seemingly neverending quest for amazing hair and my dream to have long luscious locks, so this mask seems a perfect solution to my problems!

FOOD | How To Make A Detox Green Smoothie

Hair website DirtyLooks has provided me with some 'How to' guides which I will be publishing on a weekly basis, and this Smoothie one seemed topical and like a great one to share!

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you would have seen that I have been taking my New Years Resolution to get fit and be active very seriously and  as part of this (and my making food from scratch resolution) been making fresh healthy protein smoothies after my workouts to help my body recover.
Homemade Smoothies and workout images

As well as helping my body recover, I make the smoothies to make sure I am consuming as many of my five a day and getting my nutrients. I am a Thalassemia carrier, which means my body finds it hard to absorb Iron, making me permanently anaemic,  the side affects of which are mood swings, lethargy and an unhealthy paleness. In order to try and improve these things, I am trying to increase the Iron in my diet and have been told that consuming it with vitamin C can increase absorption rates, therefore adding Iron rich greens such as spinach and kale to my smoothies are perfect.

So below is a guide to making a Green Detox Smoothie, which is high in Iron.

Do you have a good Smoothie recipe you could share with me?
