It's already that time of year when restaurants are getting their Christmas menus out, including the yummy Coast To Coast. I reviewed Coast to Coast a few years ago, and since then it has gone from strength to strength and grown into a plethora of delightful American restaurants.
The C2C crew invited a few of us Brighton Bloggers in to try their new Christmas Menu, including the entire Christmas Cocktail Menu, so who was I to say no?
On arrival we were taken to the bar area and given a cocktail lesson on how to take the majority of the festive cocktail menu.... I would share all of the recipes with you but to be honest I was too busy drinking them all. I can hand on heart tell you they were all delicious - even the Eggnog, which I really didn't think I would like! The warm cider was divine too - I love hot drinks like hot toddys and mulled wine in the winter so it was a real winner for me.
Chocolate Orange Martini (yes, that white chocolate on the rim!), the amazing Eggnog, a classic Bellini and the warm cider. We then went back to our tables to have a taster of the new Christmas menu (3 courses for £24.95). We were served the Goats Cheese Bruschetta Bites to start, which were lovely, I liked the hint of pesto which really complimented the goats cheese. We were then brought 3 dishes from the main menu to try - first up was the Mushroom Risotto, which wall lovely, I have really got into mushrooms lately and the rice was cooked perfectly and not over seasoned. Then came my favourite dish of the night - the Maple Bacon Burger. As we were sampling a range of dishes this was served as a slider (a small burger) but I am sure this had no impact on the taste, although if bigger means better, I will be in heaven. I love the combination of maple and bacon and this burger was literally dripping in syrup, I was a bit greedy and had two! The chef that helped create the menu was there telling us about each dish and apparently this one took a bit of convincing to get on the menu, but I am really glad it did. We also had sweet potato fries with the burgers - I have to say in my humble opinion Coast to Coast do the best sweet potatoes fries, they are tasty, nicely crisp and not oily like a lot of the ones I have tried. They also gave us a Turkey Roast Dinner, which was nice, I particularly liked the mash, but it wouldn't be my first choice, it's not something I would go to Coast to Coast to eat - I'd definitely have the Maple Bacon Burger. |
Although extremely full and possibly about to explode, we still had dessert to come. It was an Oreo Cheesecake, served with cream and Oreo Ice Cream, and we all know I find it very hard to say no to cheesecake. The cheesecake was good, and had I not already eaten my weight in delicious food I would have probably enjoyed it more - I am also interested in trying the Pecan Pie.
We were also treated to THE cutest Cocktail ever - The Snowman - it even had a little carrot nose! But by this point I had to admit defeat and only managed a sip.
