I have been to Yo!Sushi twice before, the first many years ago when it first opened and about a year ago, both were fleeting visits that didn't really leave an impression on me.
With Joe only recently discovering that he actually likes Sushi (for years he said he didn't like it) Yo!Sushi was never really a contender for date night. With Brighton's growing foodie community and excellent burger game, it is easy to overlook the chain, but what a mistake that was.
Having just had a refurb Yo!Sushi invited Joe and I in for an evening meal to experience the updated decor. The addition of the 2 person booths down one side of the conveyor belt is a nice touch, especially if you want a more private experience. However, as Joe was about to lose his conveyor belt virginity I felt he should get the full experience.
When we arrived we were approached by a very friendly waitress who showed us to our seats, explained how everything worked and took our drinks order. I have to mention that the staff (including the chefs) were all really attentive, which I was quite surprised by.
We got started by grabbing one of my favourites off the belt - Spicy Pepper Squid, it had obviously just been made as it was piping hot and delicious! We then had the Chicken Gyoza (you get three but ate one before taking a picture!) which again is a favourite.
Having never really eaten Japanese food Joe wasn't sure what to order so we asked what the waiter thought was good, he suggested the Ginger Beef Teriyaki (OMG) and the Katsu Scallops (cooked perfectly) and I decided to order my first Katsu Curry - no I don't know what took me so long either!
The only thing that I didn't enjoy was the chocolate Mochi desert - I usually will eat anything, but the texture was just beyond me - the chocolate taste was good though.
We had a really lovely evening and will definitely go back, possibly on Blue Mondays so we can eat all the foods!
