Food | Bella's Bangin' Oreo Bites

I have received product from Oreo for this post. It is an entry to the Foodies100 Wonderfilled recipe challenge sponsored by Oreo, which marks the launch of two exciting new flavours: Peanut Butter and Golden. The delicious new flavours are available in all major supermarkets at an RRP of £1.08. To find out more, visit www.facebook.com/oreo

I am not a bad cook, but I am a rubbish baker, I am not patient at all and in most cases end up eating the ingredients. However, my younger sister Bella is fantastic in the kitchen, and famous for her cakes. She made the one below for my 30th birthday - Roses and all!

So when I mentioned the Wonderfilled recipe challenge she told me she had a great recipe in that we could do, which she makes with regular Oreos and everyone loves - her 'Bagin' Oreo Bites'.

please excuse the picture - they got eaten at the party before we could take a pretty one!

Ingredients

  • 2 packets of Oreos (we made to batches using the new Golden Oreos and another with Original Oreos)
  • Half a tub of  Philidelphia Cheese Light
  • Chocolate for melting (we coverd the Golden in White and the Original in Milk)

Instructions

  1. The boring part. Place Oreos in a bowl. Using a blunt instrument, like the handle of a rolling pin, crush up your Oreos into crumbs.
  2. Now time to get messy. Add in the cream cheese and mix together with your hands. It should all stick together and farm into a big ball in your hand.
  3. Just keep rollin', rollin', rollin'. Now take small amounts of the mixture and role into balls using your fingertips and place on a flast platter or plate. It may not look like it in the bowl, but the mixture goes a long way.
  4. Just chill. Place the balls in the fridge for about 30 mins.
  5. Get melting. After 30 mins take out the balls and put them to one side. Melt your chocolate, to avoid burning the chocolate I would recommend melting it in a bowl above boiling water in a pan.
  6. Dunking time. Using a spoon take a ball and drop it into the chocolate, making sure it gets coated, then place it back on the tray.
  7. Nearly there. Place the coated Oreo bites into the fridge for another 30 minutes. When the chocolate is solid they are ready to serve.
Have you tried the new Oreos? Have you got a great recipe you could share?
