LIFESTYLE | Autumn/Winter Bedroom Moodboard Featuring Cats, Greys, Golds and Blues

The cooling in the weather (especially since coming back from being in Spain) and the changing of the season have not only been reflected in the falling leaves and the need for coat, but also a new home ware in the supermarkets and home stores.

At the moment I am really feeling neutral greys in the bedroom, with contrasting blues and golds to brighten it up. I also love mixing textures, the weave of the bed and the fur throw, the canvas cushion covers are all lovely together. I also love a good fur throw.

Our room is relatively large, but not maximised for space. Ideally we would have the TV mounted on the wall (currently it takes up half my dressing table), but the only wall where it could go also has a radiator on it which is not recommended. So the best solution would be a TV Bed, I really like this 6ft Super King bed as a lot of the TV beds are made out of leather (our faux) and I think firstly it looks a bit tacky and secondly Tobias would claw and eat the leather.

If you were decorating your room now, what would colours would you go for?

LIFESTYLE | Clothes and shoes everywhere and not a bit of space

Hubs and I share quiet a spacious one bed ground floor flat in Hove. As a whole we have a lot of space and storage so that is not a problem, until you get into the bedroom. I was going to take a picture of Hubs and my cupboards, but to be honest I am ashamed at the state they have become (mainly mine) since I had a wardrobe clear out last year. I am sad to say that my cupboard looks considerably worse than the before photo from that post, and my shoes have now taken up a permanent residence on my bedroom floor.

We have 2 built in double wardrobe, with a combination of drawers (I have two long drawers sectioned into 3 parts), between them is a built in dressing table and shallow drawer that hubs has claimed and on top of that are six cupboards that we use for other storage.

Unfortunately, the layouts are not great, the space is not optimised and recently I have found my self day dreaming of some bespoke wardrobes in London that I saw.

The main issue I have is that the drawers at the bottom of my cupboard come up too high for full length items, like maxi dress. They also have rubbish ventilation so everything smells funny, and aren't easily accessible. This means I hang up all my clothes, with limited space and limited hangers, which then bulk and items fall off.

Until we move into our own place we will not be investing in new and beautifully optimised wardrobes, which means I have to have another clear out (no!), buy more hangers and maybe invest in some temporary organisers like the cloth shelves to store my shoes and items that I would like to fold.

Do you have any space saving tips I could use?

LIFESTYLE| Resolva 24H RTU Review

Apart from the odd day, it has been beautiful in Brighton the last couple of weeks, which means BBQ and outdoor drinks are in order soon, and therefore so is a big weeding sesh.

Luckily for us a couple of years ago we paved the majority of our garden, leaving 4 borders for plants and 2 vegetable patches (we only are growing potatoes at the moment) so the whole garden isn't too much hard work (I suppose that is easy to say because Hubs is the resident gardener!).Our patio area is made up of bricks and concrete, which means there are loads of cracks and gaps for weeds, or unwanted plants to grow and boy have they really taken over the garden in the wetter months.

I was kindly sent some Resolva 24H RTU* to review so thought I would pass this on to Hubs. He was a bit annoyed if I am honest, as he likes to use his personally approved products because he knows they are animal safe and that they are reliable.

This is especially important after we recently had to rush Tobias (one of our cats) to the emergency vets after he decided to eat slug pellets that someone had laid in their garden. Luckily, Tobias made a full recovery, but the vet said that most of the animals they get in that have imbibed this sort of poison don't make it.

The first thing we did was read up on the product and whether it was safe for our cats, which it was - the instructions say that once it is dried the sprayed area is safe for both children and animals to be in the area. Then we Hubs waited for a good clear day to start targeting our collection of weeds.

Resolva 24H, which is a spray with the active ingredients glyphosate and diquat, can be used on garden weeds such as grasses, nettles and dandelions (and way more!) and is naturally broken down in the soil after use, which means your soil will be safe to plant new stuff after. They also warn that rainfall within 6 hours could reduce the effectiveness of the product.

Application was really simple as it comes in a handy spray bottle, you literally just spray the plant and leave it to die off. They recommend leaving the plants for 7 days after the treatment to ensure that the roots have been killed off properly too.

I know ideally, I would have images after 24 hours, but it actually rained the night and day after application and it was too dark to get decent pictures. However the 2 day results are still extremely impressive. Hubs even admitted that he thought it was good (and he can be stubborn).

As well as killing the patio weeds, Hubs also used it on some of the weeds on our borders, which was very successful too. Resolva instructions are VERY clear that you should be really careful not to get the spray on any plants that you want to keep if spraying on a lawn or border.

I can confirm that Hubs will continue using Resolva as he was impressed with the quick results and ease of application.

What do you do to get your garden ready for Summer?

LIFESTYLE | 5 DIY Decor Projects To Give Your Home A Refresh

Whether your looking at property for sale in London with Strutt & Parker or just want to brighten your home decor, I have created this lists of cheap and simple DIY Decor projects to give your home a refresh.

Painted Mason Jar Flower Vases

This tutorial by Mason Jar Crafts Love is so simple even I could do it! The jars can be used as flower vases, utensil pots, pen holders, the list I am sure could go on. You can chose any colour or colours to compliment the room that you want to freshen up.

Teacup Candles

I love these delicate teacup candles - a few of my crafty friends have been making these for a while, but I haven't yet had a go. This step by step guide has been written by Apple Brides. These lovely Teacup candles could be a lovely wedding decorations, a beautiful addition to a kitchen or bathroom as well as a lovely prop for a tea party.

Heart Cork Board

This is something I wanted to make after my wedding (which is why the tutorial is on wedding site Green Wedding Shoes) instead of the corks we were going to use the natural stain on the red wine. Unfortunately, collecting all the corks and transporting them back from Spain just didn't happen. But I think this is a lovely day, you can obviously change the wording to what ever you like i.e. your wedding date, married surnames or lyrics from your first dance.

Fabric Bulletin Board

There is nothing as boring (IMO) as being organised. I'm rubbish at it, and I live in a constant state of chaos, not ever knowing where I have pout things and forever looking for my keys, mobile or bank card. This tutorial from The Happy Housie allows you to brighten up your office or kitchen-maybe make it a focal point on a plain wall by picking out a striking wall printed fabric.

No Sew Cushions

Happy Housie also created this no sew cushion tutorial which is great for someone like me who is unable to sew or use a sewing machine. A simple thing like changing your cushion covers can really transform an area or make it pop.

COMPETITION | Scentsy Giveaway

Doodle Bum* the plate is from the Jadestone warmer, as Sega had a bit of an accident and broke the actual one.

The lovely Fiona Parry lent me one of her Scentsy Doodle Bud warmer to try. I hadn't heard of Scentsy before, but they have a whole range of scented products. The idea behind the brand is that they replace scented candles.

You place one or two of the scent cubes on the tray, plug it in and the heat melts the cubes down and they burn for hours.

They have a huge range of different style burners, so there is one suitable for any decor. They also sell Scentsy buddies, which are soft toys that you can pop your favorite scent in to it for your kids, as well as a range of solid perfume fragrances that you can just rub on your wrist.

They have a large collection os scents too! I tried the 'Echo' scent from the Scentsy Mans range and it is lovely. It's got spicy notes with a subtle hint of citrus. I sometimes get headaches from scented candles, but was completely fine with the Scentsy burner.

I definitely have my eye on some of the other warmers especially from the Silhouette Collection.

Fiona has also very kindly given me a Jadestone warmer along with a 'My Dear Watson' scent pack and the new 'Eliven' scent to giveaway. You can enter below.
